Karl Knapp is the founding principal of CVL Consultants of Colorado. Karl focuses on knowing what our clients need and creating an entrepreneurial environment at CVL that allows our capable professionals to create cost effective and expeditious design services that lead to our clients’ successes on every project. Karl understands the full project scope of our clients’ projects from inception through design and construction and that CVL’s contributions as an integral team member are imperative to creating marketable and functional facilities and developments. Delivering our ideas and services in concert with the critical path of each project is what makes CVL a great partner to our clients, and it is what has brought our clients back for many projects over the past 19 years.
Karl earned a Bachelor of Science Degree from the South Dakota School of Mines and Technology and earned his Professional Engineering license in Nevada in 1990. Karl started his career as a construction engineer with the South Dakota DOT. He then continued his field experience conducting survey and geotechnical testing services in Arizona. Ten years of diverse design experience in Las Vegas on condominium, casino and large masterplan design positioned Karl well to lead all facets of a consulting firm. Karl moved to Denver in 1996 and started a regional office for a national engineering firm, growing to over 50 engineers and surveyors in the first 3 years. Karl was promoted to the position of Western Region Civil Engineering Manager for Colorado, Utah, Nevada and California. In January 2000, Karl opened the doors for CVL Consultants of Colorado and has enjoyed focusing on engaging deeply in the development industry in the Front Range community ever since.
Karl enjoys hunting, snow skiing, tennis, golf, is an accomplished singer/song writer and plays the guitar and mandolin.
